Students are in their first semester exams following the educational program in Congo. We have visited some schools in Nyarugusu, noteworthy is that some students carry benches and plastic chairs to sit during the exam. The student explained this problem: “There are many students in the room and the desks no longer satisfy us. During the normal course, we sit 3 to 4 per desk or it is not in good condition to pass the exams that is why we bring the chairs to pass the exams.”
Note that in Nyarugusu, education is free from kindergarten, primary and secondary and the students have their own school materials each year such as notebooks, pens, math boxes and also slippers donated by NGOs. A question arises why not reinforce the desks in educational institutions?
